Chronicles of an Addicted Stroker: Poppers: So many choices!

Poppers: So many choices!

If you've bated with me, you know I love poppers. And I love bator bros who love poppers.

There are so many choices out there; many different brands, prices, chemical compositions, suppliers, etc. that it would take a supercomputer to track them all. To make it even more complicated, different brands affect individual users in different ways, so my selections may not work for you.

Mail order vs. the local adult shop
I'm in the U.S., so this part really only applies to those of us in the States. Other countries have different regulations and so on, so I can't really address this reliably.

If you're in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, or any major city with a sizable gay population, you've probably already found a shop that sells decent poppers. That said, don't necessarily listen to what the guy behind the counter at the shop says. He's there to sell the products that net him the greatest profit. He's not concerned about the effects on you - good or bad.

The rest of us have to make do with mail order. Some guys have had success ordering from overseas, but I've found that this isn't worth the extra time and cost. I stick to U.S.-based suppliers and return to the same companies again and again, since they seem reliable.

Here are my personal favorites, along with where I choose to buy them. Generally, although I'm open to trying just about anything out there, I will always return to the same two or three brands from specific sources.

Rush
This brand has a long history and I've found it to be pretty reliable. There are certain clues to a "genuine" bottle of Rush, the most obvious of which is the raised "PWD" logo on the cap. There should also be a little ball that rattles around inside (which, I've been told, is baking soda or something to help slow the degradation of the chemicals inside).

In my experience, the best Rush comes from Picture Brite. And it's cheap at around $6 per bottle.

Jungle Juice Platinum
There are a couple of varieties of JJ Platinum out there, and I have found them to be different enough from each other to warrant two separate mentions.

JJ Platinum with the diamond seal cap from Fort Troff is, to me, incredibly strong and very good. It also lasts a long time, which can sometimes be a problem with the larger bottle.

Picture Brite sells a version that is decent, but not as strong. If you're not into poppers that blow a hole in the back of your head, then you might try ordering them from Picture Brite.

Minotaur
For me, these are the absolute premium. They are not cheap at $16.25 per bottle (there are quantity discounts), but they are worth it. The opening of the bottle is wider, too, so you can easily fill your nasal passages with vapor. If you're a rag or jar huffer, watch out - these will literally blow your mind. Their website also sells a couple of lubes and toys for guys whose holes are clearly more experienced than mine.

As a side note, they only ship UPS - no P.O. boxes, no Alaska/Hawaii delivery - and if you're sensitive about receiving packages from adult sites, the package clearly says, "MinotaurSF" on the label (at least the last couple of times I ordered). If you're concerned that the UPS man or someone in your house might Google the name, have them shipped elsewhere or have them held at the nearest UPS facility so you can pick them up.

  1. I have ordered from MinotaurSF and there was no problem till my last order. It took more than 10 days plus one bottle was missing. It was obvious the package was opened. No movement on the package from UPS tracking aside from a pickup scan should have been a clue. They sent me the missing bottle later but somebody somewhere in a UPS uniform was getting off using stolen poppers.I ordered again recently and hope the same thing does not happen
